Erasmus Competition 2019
With the inspiration behind the piece being the title Air/Present I delved deeper past the simple implications and looked closer at Air in our Present time. With pollution, industry and constant new technologies, the planets forests are being cut down and replaced by more and more high rise buildings and concrete structures.
However, all of these materials have come from this planet. No matter how we change things all of our resources have come from the earth and to show this I used the pyrite as the “most natural” element of my piece as it shines within the concrete in its natural form.

This piece is a piece of body armourinspired jewellery made from oxidised copper.
It mirrors historical chest armour as well as mythical chest armour particularly in video games where female fighters seem to be vastly under protected with their armouracting more like decoration. All of these combined are my reasons for making this piece as it is.
This piece is a singular breast cup made from several small plates of copper attached with a staple-like joins that I used to allow the pice to have a slight amount of give whilst still being sturdy. I used a mix of custom formed chain links and braided wire to create a secure “strap” for this piece.
